Saw em at the Hollywood Palladium on their 20th anniversary deal. They did that one, it was awesome.

I’ve seen people on the internet claim to be Dream Theatre fans, yet have never met anyone in the wild who claims the same. The few thousand people I’ve met and the question of “Do you like Dream theater?” Comes up and it’s 2,000 “are you fucking serious? I hope they die!” Responses to 0, “Hell yeah bro, I just love the singer and that dildo on keys..Love those guys! Also, the trooch plays fast. So there’s that..”.

What they do as musicians is beyond impressive. But it also puts me right to sleep.

Absolutely. I love traditional metal singers but LaBrie is atrocious.

There's some truth in this. My career and interests mean that most of my acquaintances are musicians...so I legit do know quite a few DT fans... but outside that circle, I don't know many folks who are into it personally.

I've seen them live countless times, and the crowd is interesting. Lots of people who look like they wear a tie to their day job, nerdy dudes like me.

Octavarium is a record I didn't get into either. Metropolis Pt2 is my favorite. There are plenty of 83 hour long songs on there that hold my interest.

My drummer talked my into going the first time around '94-'95.
Was kinda blown away with the fans. After the show I'm watching them exiting and in the parking lot. Most totally straight kids, kinda singing out the parts, amped up, super excited still.
I was a little blown away. It was really cool seeing that, and strange cause that's not me. never saw that before or since.

I'm a DT fan but really Images and Words is thier only essential album. When James stays within his range and Jordan lays off the circus music, I love them.

Also Mangini>Portnoy
